20th Anniversary Celebration

In 2010, The Marty Leonard Community Chapel, built in honor of its namesake celebrated 20 years of gracing the Fort Worth landscape.  Designed by Gold Medal recipient, E. Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings, the Chapel was built in 1990 on the grounds of Lena Pope.

The Marty Leonard Community Chapel was constructed for the children and families served by Lena Pope and the community. It was a long time dream come true for Marty Leonard, when her family and friends honored her with a rendering and partial funds for the chapel construction on her 50th birthday.

Also celebrating fifty years of Lena Pope board leadership in 2010, Marty Leonard is “so happy to have shared my gift with so many who have enjoyed the serenity and inspiration of the Chapel” In 2008, the Chapel was voted by AIA Fort Worth as one of Fort Worth’s favorite buildings.

On November 18, 2010, the Chapel and Lena Pope celebrated the many generous donors and funders who have made the Chapel possible. The early evening program was held in the Chapel followed by a tented dinner on the adjacent lawn.

At an earlier celebration in the spring of  2010, the Chapel hosted two unique architectural and design programs featuring Maurice Jennings, AIA, partner of Chapel designer E. Fay Jones; an afternoon workshop for area architectural and design students and an evening with  area AIA (American Institute of Architects) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) professionals.

If you would like to contribute to the legacy of the Marty Leonard Community Chapel, you may do so as a donation, memorial or honorarium.
