A Holistic Approach to Education

Chapel Hill Academy (CHA) is Lena Pope’s open-enrollment, tuition-free public charter school serving children in Pre-K through 5th grades. The school achieves exceptional academic outcomes by integrating social-emotional learning alongside evidence-based curricula, addressing the needs of the whole child and actively engaging families.

In addition to academic curriculum, CHA utilizes the Second Step curriculum for Social Emotional Learning. Students in all grades begin each week with SEL lessons that range from teaching steps to problem solving, to learning how to regulate emotions.

The staff and educators at CHA actively work to engage parents in the educational process. The school offers Parent University classes, and hosts workshops to equip parents with vital skills to nurture eager learners. Lena Pope provides wrap-around services to families at CHA, including counseling/therapy and other assistance as needed.
